Moira has worked throughout England & Wales covering the length and breadth of her qualified jurisdictions wherever her clients have needed her. She has joined the firm as a partner and Head of Litigation, with a wealth of experience in all aspects of criminal litigation and advocacy along with an extremely strong reputation with her peers and the judiciary.
She hails from the north and pays homage to her roots with her tenacious and extraordinary zest in the courtroom. Sometimes feared by prosecutors, Moira ensures legal arguments and submissions cover every aspect of the law with her client’s best interests always at the forefront. She is known for her steely determination and her skills reassuring clients that their trust in her is well placed. Moira is one of few solicitors in England and Wales who obtained a payment for ‘wasted costs’ when she pursued the Crown Prosecution Service for unnecessary delays against her client’s case.
The majority of Moira’s work is as a result of recommendations from others due to her resilience in the court room. This has led to her representing all manner of client from high profile celebrities to youths faced with murder and serious violence charges. With the support from her strong team at Nicholls & Nicholls, Moira ensures if a client is being investigated, then pre-charge engagement is crucial. She recognises how important it is to have the right advice at the police station as dealing with the consequences of poor legal advice from previous lawyers when in the courtroom, has happened all too frequently.
As an impassioned defence litigator and advocate, Moira has contributed to reports lodged with parliament on issues relating to youths and the processes generally in the criminal justice system. Her work has been published across legal and parliamentary sectors as well as the national press.
Moira also speaks French and Spanish and is able to communicate with her clients in either of these languages.
